This Confined Space Training low-risk qualification is suitable for those already working or for those wishing to prepare to work in confined spaces. . The general principles of working in confined spaces are covered in this qualification, as well as the specific requirements of working in a low confined space.

Course Curriculum
Understand how to work within legislation and regulations
- 1.1 Outline the main principles of health and safety and environmental legislation and regulations
- 1.2 Explain your own responsibility to comply with the main principles of health and safety and environmental legislation and regulations
- 1.3 Summarise guidance relating to identifying a confined space
- 1.4 Explain how enclosed areas could become confined spaces due to the presence of a hazard
- 1.5 Describe hazards that can produce a confined space
- 1.6 Identify manufacturers’ instructions relating to the use of equipment
- 1.7 Describe and use local site procedures
Understand how to work safely in confined spaces
- 2.1 Explain how to assess risk for working safely in confined spaces
- 2.2 Explain how to reduce the risk to an acceptable level for the work to be carried out
- 2.3 Explain how to prepare and check equipment and tools prior to use
- 2.4 Explain how to use equipment and tools safely
- 2.5 Explain the roles within a team working in a confined space
- 2.6 Explain the precautions to take when working alone
Understand how to deal with emergencies
- 3.1 Explain how emergency situations can arise in a confined space
- 3.2 Describe the different roles and responsibilities of team members in dealing with emergencies
- 3.3 Explain how to deal with injuries to personnel and the general public
- 3.4 Explain how to deal with irregularities and abnormal situations
- 3.5 Describe different types of emergency situation
- 3.6 Explain procedures for dealing with emergencies
- 3.7 Describe communications and reporting systems for emergency situations
- Apply relevant industry standards for working in low or medium-risk confined spaces
